Privacy Policy

Who we are
Swap Lab ("the app", "we") is an iOS app that helps you find lower-glycemic-index alternatives to foods you already eat. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.
Information we collect
We do not require an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, or any other personal identifiers.
- Meal photos. When you use the Scan feature, the photo you take or select is sent securely to a third-party AI service to identify the foods in it. The photo is used only for that identification and is not stored by us. We never access your photo library beyond the images you explicitly choose.
- Food searches. When you type a food to find swaps, that text is sent to the same AI service to generate results. Searches are not linked to your identity.
- Settings and history. Your preferences and recent scans are stored locally on your device only. Deleting the app deletes them.
Third-party services
Food recognition and swap suggestions are powered by a third-party AI provider. Photos and search text are transmitted over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) solely to generate results in the app. We do not permit these providers to use your content for advertising, and requests are not accompanied by personal identifiers.
What we don't do
- No selling or renting of data — to anyone, ever.
- No advertising or ad tracking.
- No tracking you across other apps or websites.
- No collection of health records. GI information shown in the app is general food data, not a medical record about you.
Camera and photo access
The app asks for camera access only when you use the Scan feature, and photo library access only when you choose "From Library". You can revoke either at any time in iOS Settings; the rest of the app keeps working.
Children's privacy
Swap Lab is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Not medical advice
Swap Lab is informational only and does not replace medical advice. Consult a healthcare professional before making major dietary changes.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
